What are Detached Homes?

Detached homes are stand alone homes or a free standing residential building. The Heights Detached homes are sometimes referred to as single family homes, as opposed to a multi family residential dwelling. There are different detached property types in the The Heights Detached Homes housing market. The largest influential segment in The Heights defined as a unit (home) that is not attached to any other unit

  • Row house
  • One of three or more dwellings joined side by side (or occasionally side to back), such as a The Heights townhouse or garden home, but not having any other dwellings either above or below.

  • Refers to one of two dwellings attached side by side (or back to back) to each other, but not attached to any other dwelling or structure (except its own garage or shed).

Where is The Heights located in Calgary?

Community Established: The area was part of the former Town of Forest Lawn and annexed by Calgary in 1961.

In 1912, developers Albert Smyth and Mr. McCullough laid railway ties to the area and started a rumour that a streetcar was being built to lure residents. The scheme was discovered, the developers disappeared, and the railway ties were used for firewood. Development proceeded sporadically from then on, with Albert Park developing between 1908 and 1950, and Radisson Heights developing shortly after annexation.
