The community is named after Harley Hotchkiss, a prominent Calgary businessman, community leader, and former owner of the Calgary Flames. The name was adopted by Calgary City Council on May 6, 2013.
Hotchkiss is built around more than 30 acres of wetlands surrounded by boardwalks, creating a central gathering area for families. The community features Western mountain views, open green spaces, and pathways connecting every home to nature within a short walk.
The Calgary Board of Education has designated specific schools for Hotchkiss students.
