Legacy is located in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, along the east side of Stoney Trail SE. The community is bounded by 194th Avenue SE to the north, Stoney Trail to the west, and 210th Avenue SE to the south. Legacy is connected to adjacent communities of Belmont and Walden, with quick access to major roadways including Stoney Trail and Macleod Trail.
Legacy draws its inspiration from golf course communities, with many homes backing onto a golf course, lake, or lush green space. The community features The Homestead (central gathering spot with coffee shop, meeting rooms, fitness centre, and boardroom), The Heritage (13,000 sq ft amenity centre with a large indoor playground, sand volleyball court, patio, event space, and multi-purpose gym), and The Arbor (park with bandstand, sports courts, skateboard and scootering area, and natural playground). Legacy also has a waterfall that cascades into a fishing pond.
The Legacy Homeowners Association offers six world-class amenity spaces included in residents' annual fees. The Heritage is a 13,000 sq ft facility with indoor playground, sand volleyball court, event space, fitness equipment, and gym. The Homestead features a coffee shop, meeting rooms, fitness centre, and boardroom. Legacy Central includes a natural playground with slide, climber, and swings. The Arbor provides a bandstand, sports courts, skateboard and scootering area, and restrooms. The Grove and The Canopy offer additional green spaces and gathering areas throughout the community.

Legacy has a new K-6 public school site in the community's southeast corner. Nearby schools include Legacy Elementary School, All Saints High School (Catholic), St. Teresa of Calcutta School (K-6), and Holy Cross Elementary School. For older students, Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School and Centennial High School are within reasonable driving distance.
The Legacy Golf Course is a 9-hole course winding through the community, designed by the developer to be more than just a backyard view. It is a golf course that weaves through the community, and many homes have backyard views overlooking the golf course or surrounding lakes. The course adds to the resort-style atmosphere of the neighbourhood.
Legacy features over 100 acres of parks and 8 km of paved pathways connecting throughout the community. Key parks include The Homestead (central gathering spot), The Heritage (13,000 sq ft amenity centre), The Arbor (bandstand, sports courts, skateboard area), The Grove, and The Canopy. The community also features a man-made lake with a cascading waterfall stocked with fish, plus direct access to Fish Creek Provincial Park via nearby pathway connections.
Legacy is directly connected to Stoney Trail (Highway 201), providing quick access to Deerfoot Trail and Macleod Trail. The drive to downtown Calgary takes approximately 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. For transit users, the On-It regional bus service serves Legacy and adjacent communities, offering direct service to Somerset-Bridlewood LRT station. Calgary Transit On Demand also serves the community.
Legacy's commercial area, The Homestead, features shops, groceries, and restaurants. A shopping plaza with a Circle K, gas station, and other services is already well-established. Seton Urban District is just 10 minutes away, offering Walmart, Superstore, Save-On-Foods, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Cineplex, and dozens of restaurants and professional services. The adjacent community of Walden also has its own shopping area with a Sobeys and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Yes, Legacy is an excellent community for families. The community features a new elementary school on-site, a massive indoor playground at The Heritage (open year-round), numerous outdoor parks and playgrounds, and a network of paved pathways perfect for biking and walking. The community is known for being family-friendly, clean, safe, and dog-friendly, with plenty of community events hosted throughout the year.
Legacy is designed to be walkable, with 8 km of paved pathways connecting all areas of the community. Many parks and amenities are within walking distance of homes. The community has a Walk Score of 27, which is car-dependent, but the internal pathway system makes it easy to walk to parks and community amenities.
Legacy is a master-planned community that has been under development since the early 2010s. The community was developed by Brookfield Residential, with the vision of creating a neighbourhood inspired by golf course communities. Legacy is now nearing completion, with most phases sold out and final amenities in place.
