If you are thinking of taking in a Rodeo / Stampede while you are visiting Canada do it ! We chose Strathmore because it fitted in with our holiday dates but we could not have picked better. We loved Strathmore, its people and the Stampede which was so well organised. It’s a good idea to book your rodeo tickets well in advance but Strathmore doesn’t wake up til around the end of April so that could be your 1st opportunity. You can by tickets from overseas but will need to email the organisers through the website. We were travelling by RV and they will help you book a site at the Stampede grounds. We were worried that we had left this late but got a great site booking at the end of April. Even if you turned up at the Stampede weekend there were plots available but a long way away from the main campground and you would need to be self-sufficient. There’s a great Motel up the road in town but you will need to book that early to get the dates. So, there’s the rodeo which is a must see – but that’s only part of The Stampede. There was so much else going on at the Stampede ground we were spoilt for choice what to do and see. There’s even bands and entertainers on stage at night time. Loads of fast food stalls to sample and a whole host of other fun stuff for all ages. I had visited a Stampede 20 years before on my last trip over and was actually worried my family might get bored. They totally loved it. Just wish we could go back every year. The locals don’t know how lucky they are to have this spectacular show.
