This Shawnessy YMCA is modern, exceptionally clean and very well run. Comprehensive gym with a wide range of work-out machines (ellipticals, treadmills, step climbers, bicycles, weight training machines, etc) plus a good running track. The swimming pools provide lane swimming, open swim area plus a kids facility. Hot tub on deck is great. Good locker facilities. For those who want to pay a bit more the facility also offers premium option with better locker room, towels and steam room. Topped off by typically friendly Calgary staff at the front desk and throughout the facility. This YMCA is very close (5 mins walk) to an LRT station and bus service within metres. Great place for singles, serious health fanatics, seniors, and the whole family.
