Rainbow Falls is right next to a special lake in a special place to be delightful in the winter, and Chestermere Lake is not one of those. BUT, there are parts that freeze well enough for skating, and the City of Chestermere did a bang-up job hosting a huge Pond Hockey tournament recently. For visitors to Alberta, there are many other places that would offer more varied recreation opportunities, and are much more scenic. Summer is definitely the time to visit this area, and then it is very, very nice.
