Along with the step up in square footage, the Reghenas family’s move was also motivated by an interest in getting closer to the community’s star amenity, Mahogany Lake. At 25.5 hectares (63 acres), it’s the largest freshwater lake within Calgary city limits. We are extremely close, says Drew. It is about a two-minute walk to the park at the main beach, which is fantastic. We can easily just walk to the lake, spend some time, and then make our way back home, which is extremely convenient, and another big selling point about the house that we picked. It is a big community, but when you’re there, it feels like a small town, because you always seem to run into someone you know, he adds. Our street has a Facebook group that everyone chats on, we have block parties, people arrange to meet at the lake, or do a walking night.
