Resident Feedback:

De Winton welcomes you to the foothills with its beautiful river valley, green meadows, grazing livestock, and a great view of the rising Rocky Mountains to the west. This hamlet was born during the Second World War, when a pilot training school for the Royal Air Force was operating at the Royal Canadian Air Force air station. Now known as the De Winton/Calgary South Airport, this area housed temporary buildings for operations and accommodations for service personnel. Named after British army officer Francis de Winton, this area just west of Highway 2 offers visitors ample fresh country air, panoramic valley and mountain views, and a great place to stay just outside the city for that true get-a-way feel. De Winton does offer a cool little community hall, accommodations, and access to 2 great golf courses.
