For 50 years, Quarry Park was a gravel extraction site operated by Lafarge Canada. In 2005, the 400-acre brownfield site was purchased by Remington Development Corporation, which transformed it into a master-planned mixed-use community. The Market at Quarry Park opened in 2008, new homes opened in 2010, and Imperial Oil opened its 20-acre campus in 2012. The community was built with innovative flood mitigation strategies that kept it completely dry during the 2013 Bow River flood, despite being in an evacuation zone.
Quarry Park is developed by Remington Development Corporation, an Alberta-based developer that since its inception in 1994 has completed over 16 million square feet of commercial real estate development and over 2,000 acres of land development. The master plan was designed by Gibbs Gage Architects.
