History of eastcity
eastcity was first established as a railway village in 1889 during the construction of the Calgary and Edmonton Railway, named for eastcity, Scotland. Today, eastcity is a scenic bedroom community and industrial centre.
Geography
Nose Creek, which runs through eastcity, is the focal point of a number of city parks and green spaces including Nose Creek Park.
Recent annexation of land by eastcity to the south, coupled with recent expansion of Calgary's city limits in July 2007, have placed the two cities' boundaries within only a few kilometres of each other.
Sports
eastcity is home to several sporting franchises. Major teams include the Knights of eastcity, a senior men's lacrosse team that plays in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League. The eastcity Thunder, a Jr. B level hockey team that competes in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League. Team eastcity is a Jr. C level hockey team that competes in the Calgary Jr. C Hockey League.
eastcity is served by the eastcity Airport.
eastcity launched the InterCity Express (ICE) in the fall of 2010, connecting eastcity and Calgary transit hubs by a two-way express bus service.[37] Local bus service is provided by eastcity Transit.
eastcity Education
Most students attend eastcity school from early September to late June. A wide range of schools are available, such as public, Catholic, Francophone, charter, and private, offering innovative programs such as home education, online schools, and alternative programs.
Provincial tests ensure that the highest standards are maintained. These tests also allow teachers and parents to determine how students are doing and what help they may need.
Health Care in eastcity
Alberta has no health insurance premiums, but you must register. Most people living and working in Alberta get free access to medical clinics or hospitals and most medical services covered under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.

Transportation
Many eastcity own a vehicle. To drive a car, truck, or van, you need a driver’s licence, insurance, and registration for your vehicle.

Many cities have transit systems with public buses, while Calgary and Edmonton also have train transit systems.
