Administration Message St. Joan of Arc School is a vibrant, engaging learning community focused on developing the whole child through faith, academics, lifelong learning, resiliency, athletics and the arts. Our Administration team is privileged to work with staff, students, families and our community to ensure Success for All Students. In our kindergarten to grade 9 environment, we work to meet the needs and interests of our students at each stage of their personal, academic, spiritual and citizenship development. With this in mind, our school has a culture of collaboration amongst staff and with our parent community to provide the best learning and social experience for students. Our school is driven by the vision of our 3 year plan and all staff are involved in meeting these outcomes. Whether it be with literacy, numeracy, Career and Technology Foundations, technology, or our faith, we are innovative and forward thinking, incorporating best professional practices to support student learning. The school also provides a significant social experience for students. As an Administration team, we consciously look to enhance our academics through special events, field trips, artist residencies and a variety of guests to support personal wellness, the arts, curriculum enrichment, responsible citizenship, digital citizenship, and social justice, as well as create opportunities for students to be leaders and visionaries in these domains. An important part of the social experience of school includes extracurricular activities of which our school has a strong tradition. Students are able to participate in inter-school athletics, band and Glee, technology clubs, and special interest groups driven by student interests and teachers’ talents. At St. Joan of Arc, we believe that our students are best supported when strong relationships are formed between teachers-parents-students. Communication is the foundation of these relationships and our staff strives to ensure parents have timely information through channels such as our Weekly Messenger, our monthly newsletter, our school website, Bright Space/D2L (junior high), email, Twitter, our community bulletin board, as well as class newsletters and student agenda updates. We encourage parents to be engaged in their child’s education, decision-making and the school community. Many opportunities exist to volunteer both in and outside of the classroom, with large school events, or simply reading with a child. We also extend the invitation to all of our parents to participate in our monthly School Council meetings.These meetings are a wonderful way to enhance your knowledge of activities in our school and participate in discussions that help mold and direct the vision of our school community. Every day, we are honoured by the trust parents put in us to teach, nurture and care for your children. Knowing that they are with us for but a short time, we aim to leave our students, your children, with attributes from our patron saint, Joan of Arc. Through her young life she exemplified Faith in Self; Faith in Each Other; and above all, Faith in God. With these gifts, we are confident we will send forth our students into the world with strength, confidence and resiliency to handle and thrive in whatever life presents.
