in Red Deer Alberta Bower Ponds is a great little get away from the city. It is well maintained and has plenty to do. The paddle boats are fun but so is a walk around the pond. The geese can be a little possessive and uppity but it's just a bluff. There are scheduled activities to enjoy such as Canada Day. Activities with samplings of various ethnic cuisines and cultural displays . Since Red Deer has such a rich mixture of cultures, it's great to be able to experience so many of them in one place. It's a good spot for a family picnic or reunion or if you just want to take your dog for a nice walk (be sure to bring '"doggy bags' to keep the park pleasant for others who want to enjoy it.) I don't think they want you to feed the ducks. Nobody likes a fat duck. They waddle enough as it is. If you enjoy ice skating the pond is open for skating, provided conditions are safe. The Parks and Rec. Dept can provide that information. Take in everything the area has to offer. The hiking trails can take you all the way to Heritage Ranch, if you're feeling energetic. Just remember. If you hike there, you may have to hike back. Don't miss this lovely feature that makes Red Deer such a special place to live and to visit.
